Statement
Studied at MMU and my masters degree at Edinburgh school of art. My artwork is very much about manipulating from scraping, adding, and reducing, bringing forth objects and ambiguous narratives, From memory to literature. Referencing the “little prince.” The boy who could never draw something his parents could identify. The object is not refined it is reshaped through experiment and observation giving the audience the ability to engage with it. This fusion of objects moulds something unstable or a solid mass. This being attempted with clay modelling as one compares a Gaudi with Cubists highlighting and incorporating the physical 3 dimensional form, bolstering the concepts of illusion and scale as in the case of using projection from a portrait concept to reinterpret a painting. Reading, “What painting is,” Elkins elucidates the task of painting is not always a journey but can be an instinctive impulse for successful work. Artists who inspire are Magnus plessen who believe 2 forms a painting is a perfect formula. Artist like Condo, Cecily brown and renaissance artist like Boticelli and Simon Bening.
