Terms and Conditions for Online Submission and Website Use
These terms and conditions govern your submission of artwork online and your use of our website. Please review them carefully before completing your entry as they establish the contract between you and the Zari Art Prize.
Entry Fees
All entry fees are non-refundable.
Acceptable Mediums
We accept 2D and 3D artworks, including painting, oil, mixed media, acrylic, watercolour, drawing, ink, calligraphy, original print, photography, sculpture, and ceramic. However, digital art, installation and video artworks are excluded.
Submission Guidelines
Artists may submit up to 10 entries of original works created within the last three years, ensuring full copyright ownership of the images. The maximum size for 2D works (inclusive of frame) is 150 x 150 cm. For 3D sculptures, the maximum size is 70 x 70 x 70 cm. Works previously awarded in major competitions are ineligible.
For exhibition purposes, please provide an estimated sale price for each work, including VAT if applicable. This price should reflect what a gallery would typically charge, including the Zari Art Prize's 25% sales commission. We recommend sensible pricing.
Selection Process
The competition involves a two-stage selection process:
Stage 1 (Online): Our jury will pre-select artworks based on submitted images. These images must accurately represent the entered works, which must be available for exhibition if shortlisted. This stage includes an online review of all submissions.
Stage 2 (Final Selection): Finalists will have their works individually assessed by the judges, who will then select the winners, excluding the Public Choice Prize, which is determined by an online public vote.
Exhibition Readiness
All artworks, except sculptures, must be ready for hanging. This means canvases should have a wire or hook attached, photographs must be framed, and works on boards should have hanging mechanisms. We cannot accept responsibility for works not prepared for display. The gallery can provide plinths measuring 30x30x100 cm, so your sculpture should fit within these dimensions. Alternatively, you can arrange for your own plinth or the sculpture can be free-standing. Please be mindful of the weight, particularly for shipping and transport. If the sculptures are fragile, ensure they are adequately packed for protection.
Judging and Exhibition
The organizers and jury reserve the right to accept or reject any artwork for the show. We will not exhibit works deemed of poor craftsmanship or significantly different from their digital representation. Works on paper must be framed; clip and aluminium frames are not acceptable.
The judges' decisions are final and not open to correspondence.
Artists are responsible for all costs related to the delivery, shipping, and packaging of their works, including any customs charges and duties. We recommend artists insure their works as the Zari Art Prize, and its partners will not be liable for loss or damage.
Copyright and Reproduction Rights
The copyright remains with the artist. By entering, you grant the Zari Art Prize the right to reproduce your work for competition-related press, publicity, and promotional purposes.
Data Protection
In line with the Data Protection Act 1998, we will securely hold your data and use it solely for administering the Zari Art Prize. It will not be shared with third parties.
Disqualification
We reserve the right to disqualify any entry that does not comply with these terms.
Sales and Collection
All exhibited works must be for sale, with the Zari Art Prize retaining a 25% commission on sold pieces. Artists or their representatives must collect unsold or unselected works from the designated collection point.
Shipping Costs
All shipping costs are responsibility of the artist. Regarding return shipping, if the artworks remain unsold at the end of the exhibition, the artist will absorb all costs associated with returning the pieces. This includes packaging, handling, and transportation expenses. The Gallery will pack the works in their original packaging. The Gallery will coordinate with the artist to facilitate the return process but will not cover any of the incurred costs. Artists are encouraged to plan and budget for these potential expenses in advance.
These terms are governed by English law, with the UK courts having exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes.
